A second key
One key is one away from none
If your car has a single key, losing it means a new key made from nothing. A spare made now, copied from the key you already have, is a smaller job — and it means a lost key becomes a nuisance rather than an emergency.

Copied from the key you have
With a working key to read from, a spare is cut and its chip or remote programmed to the car at your address. Flip keys, remotes and push-to-start smart keys are all done this way for most makes.
Tell us the make, model and year and the kind of key — the form below has a picture of each — and you have the price before you book.
Have every key you use for the car with you when we come. On some cars, programming a new key means the car re-learns all its keys at once, and a key that is missing may stop working.
Why now rather than later
Copying a key that works is simpler than making one for a car with no key at all, so a spare is usually the smaller job. That is the reason to do it before you need it.

Common questions
Does the spare start the car, or just open it?
For most cars, both. The chip that lets the engine start is programmed to the car along with the remote buttons.
Do I have to bring the car somewhere?
Usually not. The spare is made at your car, at home or at work.
Is a spare cheaper than a replacement?
Usually. Copying a working key is less work than making one with no key to start from. Ask for a price to see yours.
