Getting back inside without wrecking your door

The goal is always to open the door and leave the lock working. Most residential lockouts can be handled that way, which means you keep the lock you’ve already paid for and your keys still work afterwards.

Occasionally a lock has been damaged, or forced by someone before we got there, and it has to be replaced to regain entry. If that’s the case your locksmith will explain it and confirm the cost with you before touching anything.

When your home can’t be locked

A front door that won’t lock is a different kind of emergency to being shut out — you can get in, but you can’t leave. It’s worth saying so when you book, because it changes how urgent the job is.

If a break-in has already happened, call the police first. We can secure the property once they’ve been through.

If someone is in danger, call 000 first

If a child or a pet is shut inside, if there’s smoke, or if someone is hurt, ring triple zero before you ring us. The fire brigade can get a door open faster than any locksmith and it costs you nothing to be safe.

How quickly can someone get to me?

When you choose “as soon as possible”, the site works out the earliest time your locksmith can genuinely reach your suburb and shows you a window. You’ll get a text confirming it. We don’t quote a time we can’t keep.

Will you need to drill my lock?

Usually no. Non-destructive entry is the default, and drilling is a last resort discussed with you first — never a surprise on the invoice.

Can you prove I live there?

We’ll ask you to show that the property is yours before opening it — ID with the address, or something equivalent. It’s the same protection you’d want if it were someone else at your door.
