Locked out of your car
Keys on the seat, doors locked
The keys are in the ignition, on the seat or in the boot, and every door is locked. It happens to a lot of people, and the job is often quick: the car is opened, and your keys are back in your hand.

Opening it without forcing the door
Car lockouts are opened with tools made for the purpose, working through the door seal or the lock rather than forcing anything. That is the approach for most cars.
If a car cannot be opened that way — some have deadlocking that prevents it — we tell you before going any further, and nothing extra is done without your agreement.
If a child or a pet is inside
Ring triple zero first. A child or an animal shut in a car, especially on a warm day, is an emergency, and police and fire crews are the right call. We would rather lose the job than have you wait for us.
What we ask to see
Once the car is open we ask for photo ID and something that connects you to the car, such as the registration papers in the glovebox. It protects you as much as anyone.

Common questions
Will opening the car damage it?
For most cars the door is opened with purpose-made tools, to avoid damaging it. If yours is one where that is not possible, you hear it from us first and decide what happens next.
My key is lost, not locked inside. Is that the same job?
No — that is a new key rather than a lockout. See lost car keys, or ask for a price and choose that job.
Can you get to me where the car is?
Yes. This is a mobile service: we come to the car, wherever it is parked in the area we cover.

Answer what you can — anything you are unsure of, leave it. Your locksmith reads it and comes back with a price, usually within the hour during business hours.
Stuck right now? Ring — it is faster than any form. If it can wait, the form below gets you an exact figure.
Priced by the job, not by the hour — the figure you approve is the figure you pay for the job as described.*
*If your locksmith arrives and the job turns out genuinely different from what you told us — a different lock, extra doors, damage nobody mentioned — you get a plain explanation and a new figure before any work starts, and you can say no. Anything you haven’t agreed to is never charged.
