Common questions about lock replacement

What is the price for lock replacement?

From $165. Including GST. You get that figure before anyone sets off, and it is what you pay for the job as described — if the job on site turns out different, it is explained and re-approved before any work starts.

How long do you allow for lock replacement?

We allow about an hour on site for this one, which is what the diary reserves when you book it — so the time you are given accounts for it rather than being an estimate on top of it.

Do you do lock replacement for a home?

Yes — this one is priced as home work, under its own rules. If your job is a different kind, the price checker will put you on the right one rather than quoting you the wrong rate, and the same locksmiths do all three.

I’m locked out right now — what’s the fastest thing to do?

Call. A phone call is faster than any form, and the person answering can start arranging someone while you talk. If you would rather not speak to anyone, check a price online and pick the earliest time offered — the booking goes to your locksmith the moment you confirm it.

How long will you be?

You are given a time window before you book, not after — and it comes from the real diary, so it accounts for the jobs already on it. Nobody here will tell you "twenty minutes" to get you off the phone. If the window we can offer does not work for you, say so and we will tell you honestly what else is possible.

Will I know the price before you start?

Yes, and it is the same price whether you book online, over the phone or through the assistant — they all read one price list. If something outside that scope turns up once your locksmith is there, they will explain it and get your agreement before doing it. Work you did not agree to is not work you get charged for.

Is there a call-out fee on top?

The figure you are shown before booking is the price for the job, not a starting point with extras added afterwards. If a call-out or after-hours amount applies to your job, it is already inside that number and the conditions that produced it are shown with it.

Do you cover my suburb?

Enter your suburb when you check a price and the site answers immediately — including telling you plainly if you are outside the area, rather than taking a booking it cannot serve. We cover much of metropolitan Melbourne.

Do I have to prove the property or car is mine?

Yes, every time, with photo ID and something connecting you to the address or the vehicle — a licence, a rates notice, a lease, a rego paper. It is not negotiable and there is no version of this job where we skip it. It is the same rule that stops somebody else asking us to open your door.

It decides whether we can get to you — better to know now than after you have written the rest.

What type of property is it?

A rough number is fine — your locksmith will confirm on site.

So we can call you back with a firm price.

Optional — but it is how we send you the price, with a button to accept it and pick a time. Without it we have to ring you.

Optional — but the more we know, the more accurate the price.

Optional, and the single thing most likely to get you a firm price without anyone coming out. The lock, the door, and the key if you have it.
